The LWVHK visited the Justice Centre to hear about human trafficking and forced labor in Hong Kong. Jade Anderson, the Justice Centre's Anti-Human Trafficking Coordinator, took us through the conclusions of the Centre's important report, 'Coming Clean' on forced labor in Hong Kong. Jane co-authored the report. The report demonstrated that 17% of domestic helpers in Hong Kong are in forced labor, and 14% of these were actually trafficked to Hong Kong. Unfortunately, many more were in questionable circumstances, with many being denied their food allowances, rest, and salaries. The conclusions were shocking. To learn more about this important work, visit their website. We were so engrossed in the lecture that we forgot to take pictures! We've included some screen shots from 'Coming Clean.' Read the report here. Stay informed about the League's exciting upcoming meetings and join our newsletter!
